Births Information

Names

The notice may have a single name, or there may be multiple names, with a hyphen or a slash or a space.

There does not appear to be a convention for the order of the Mother's name or Father's name, so that "Smith/Jones" does not tell the reader which is the Mother's name.  Where the Mother's name is specified, as in "nee Smith" then it is shown in the column for Mother's name.

Similarly for the family name of the child.  Where it is specified, then it has been shown.  Where the Birth Notice Name is a single name, then the child's Last Name is assumed to be that name also.  Otherwise, the column is left blank.

For Multiple births - the names are assumed to be shown in the order of birth in the notice, and are annotated as Twin 1, Twin 2, Triplet 1/2/3, in the Comments column.
Seq

The number represents the order in the family for the child.
If 2 siblings have been mentioned, then the Seq will be shown as "3" for the subject child.

Where multiple births occur, then the Seq will be shown in the order of the names given in the notice.  Thus where a sibling has been mentioned in the notice, then the first of twins will show Seq as "2" and the second twin will show Seq as "3".

Locations If the event has occurred within the Wellington region, that is,  Wellington City to Upper Hutt, or Wellington City to Otaki, then the Location column may show Wellington Region.  The locations use the format of town/city, district, country.
